Why We Stay Small

Small classes. Personal attention. Real connection.

Summer in Rehoboth is busy.

The traffic picks up, the beaches fill, schedules get tighter, and everyone is looking for a place to move, breathe, reset, and feel good in their body.

At Pilates by Tammie, we know we are not the biggest studio in town.

And honestly? We are not trying to be. Our studio has 8 reformers. That is intentional.

In the Pilates industry, bigger classes often mean bigger revenue. Many studio models are built around maximizing capacity, filling as many reformers as possible, and increasing revenue per class. Industry business resources consistently point to class capacity, high utilization, recurring revenue, and efficient staffing as major drivers of profitability for Pilates studios. Some reports estimate well-run studios can see profit margins around 15–25%, while larger multi-reformer boutique models often generate more owner income because they can serve more clients per hour.

So yes — we could probably add more reformers.

We could squeeze in more bodies.

We could be “like the rest of them.”

But that has never been the heart of Pilates by Tammie.

We keep our studio small because we want to see you.  Not just count you.  Not just book you.  Not just move you through a class.  Actually see you.

Our space is intimate, personal, and purposefully designed that way. With only 8 reformers, our instructors can pay attention. We can notice how you are moving. We can offer hands-on corrections, thoughtful modifications, encouragement, and support. We can remember your injuries, your goals, your progress, your hesitation, and your wins.

That matters.

And then there is the Konnector.

Every reformer in our studio is equipped with the Konnector system, which creates a completely different experience from traditional reformer Pilates. It challenges coordination, connection, balance, strength, and awareness in a way that truly changes how people move in their bodies. It is not just exercise. It is education. It is connection. It is learning how your body works from the inside out.

That is what makes us different.  We are not a large, impersonal studio where you disappear into the room.

We are small.

We are focused.

We are deeply personal.

And we care — a lot.

Pilates by Tammie was never built around chasing the most money possible. It was built from the love of movement, the love of teaching, and the love of watching people feel stronger, more confident, more capable, and more at home in their bodies.

We do this because we believe Pilates can change lives.

We do this because we believe people deserve to walk into a space and feel welcomed, accepted, and genuinely cared for.  We do this because relationships matter.

The conversations before class. The little check-ins. The “how’s your hip?” or “how did you feel after last time?” The laughter. The trust. The quiet confidence that starts to build when someone realizes they are stronger than they thought.

That is the magic.

And that magic gets harder to protect when the room gets too big.

So this summer, when everything around us feels busier, louder, and more crowded, Pilates by Tammie will continue to be what it has always been:

A small boutique studio with a big heart.

A place where you are not just another reformer in the room.

A place where your body, your story, and your experience matter.

A place built with love.

And we are so grateful you are part of it.
